Courses OfferedThe Diploma in Financial Administration (DFA) is designed to meet the growing demand for personnel in accounting field with a wide range of knowledge and skills in business management. The programme’s intention is not only to produce an accounting professional but also to produce a professional with wide ranging skills in management and corporate strategy. The programme is intended for the following groups of people:
- a) School leavers who want to pursue a career in accounting and business management;
- b) Holders of relevant professional qualifications in accounting, business management and, banking
RATIONALE
The demand for qualified accountants with skills in management is ever increasing in today’s competitive markets. Organisations are not only looking for a qualified accountant, but are also in need of an accountant that is able to understand the critical management aspects of a business organisation.
AIM OF THE DFA PROGRAMME
The aim of the DFA programmes is to equip candidates with knowledge in accounting, finance, taxation and business management.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this programme; candidates should be able to:
- a) Demonstrate critical skills for the preparing of financial accounts for external reporting;
- b) Demonstrate critical skills for the preparing of management accounts for internal reporting
- d) Demonstrate the critical management skills and abilities of managing a business organisation
- e) Demonstrate an understanding of people who collectively come together to work in a business organisation
- f) Evaluate appropriate sources of business finance for an organisation
- a) Five credits at “O Level” including English and Mathematics; or
- b) Passes in the GCE Advanced Level Examination comprising three (3) “A” Levels and two (2) “O” Levels
- c) Part Qualified CIMA; ACCA; ATD; CIA and ZICA or equivalent; or
- d) Any degree from a recognised institution; or
- e) For Mature Age Entry Route: five (5) years working experience in a related field of study

DURATION
The course of study for the award of a Diploma in Financial Administration shall be completed in a period of:
a) Not less than two years (for school leavers) or
a) A period of less than two years (in cases where exemptions have been given) provided that no exemption shall be given for DFA233, DFA243, DFA214, DFA224, DFA234 and DFA244.
