BACKGROUND

The Zambia College of Pensions and Insurance Trust (ZCPIT) is a TEVETA registered college, created by a consortium of the Zambian Insurance and Pension Associations and Bodies, namely:

  • The Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA);
  • The Insurance Institute of Zambia (IIAZ);
  • The Zambia Association of Pension Fund (ZAPF);
  • Insurance Brokers Association of Zambia (IBAZ); and
  • The Insurers Association of Zambia (IAZ);

 VISION

The ZCPIT aims to become a respected centre of excellence for the Human Resource Development and Research in various areas, but focusing mainly on:

  • Insurance
  • Pension Administration
  • Fund Management/ Investments
  • Risk Management
  • Actuarial Principles / Practice and
  • Related business courses.

ZCPIT conducts courses on a semester basis. Currently there are four semester intakes – January to June; May to October; July to December and November to April.

Courses conducted at ZCPIT are Full-time, Evening (part-time) and supported Distance Learning.

In addition ZCPIT conducts as part of its mandate, Short Courses / Seminars and Workshops as follows:

  • Investment Advisors and Stockbrokers Course
  • Logistics and Transport – Professional Competence Course
  • Insurance Agents Course – Non Life /General Insurance
  • Insurance Agents Course – Life
  • Pension Administration
  • Risk Management
  • Effective Claims Management
  • Motor Vehicle Insurance Underwriting
  • Chartered Institute for Securities Investment – CISI (UK)
  • Micro Insurance plus many more other customized courses

As stated in the vision statement, the college aims to work with its partners and identify more compatible training institutions to provide a variety of educational programmes, including:

  • Specialised Courses and Training with other universities and colleges
  • Vocational and technical programs
  • Basic skills and developmental education
  • Pre-employment and customized training for local business and industry
  • Support services for students, and so on and so forth.

The College’s Executive Management Committee (EMC) through the Board of Trustees adopted the Business Model as their operations model consistent with the vision of the college which has become the focal points for the College’s Road Map.
